Son of Late Actress Kim Soo-mi Remembers Her with Heartfelt Reflections

In the latest episode of TV Chosun's variety show 'Dad and Me' (아빠하고 나하고), Jeong Myeong-ho, the son of the late actress Kim Soo-mi, shared his poignant memories surrounding his mother's passing. Although it has been about six months since her death, tributes and remembrances for the beloved actress continue to resonate with fans and family alike.

On March 25, Jeong Myeong-ho and his sister-in-law Seo Hyo-rim, who appeared in Season 1 of the show, visited the now-empty home of Kim Soo-mi. They expressed their sorrow, stating, "It feels so empty without mom; there are no traces of her left," as they reflected on the trophies and memories that filled the house.

While exploring the kitchen, a place Kim Soo-mi cherished, Jeong Myeong-ho recalled the harrowing moment he learned of her passing. He recounted receiving a call from his father in the early hours, who sensed something was wrong. Upon entering her bedroom, he found her unresponsive, and despite calling for emergency services, it was revealed that she had been gone for several hours.

"I still can't believe it. I haven't fully accepted her absence; I need more time," he shared, struggling to articulate his feelings. Seo Hyo-rim echoed his sentiments, stating, "It was shocking for everyone, including my husband, who was in disbelief."

She also mentioned the stress Kim Soo-mi faced during her life, including issues related to unpaid appearance fees, which contributed to her health struggles, ultimately leading to a 'hyperglycemic shock.'

In a touching moment, Seo Hyo-rim played a recording of a long phone conversation she had with Kim Soo-mi, where her mother-in-law expressed joy over her son's birthday. Listening to her voice, Jeong Myeong-ho remarked, "It's been a while since I heard her voice. I often call out for her when I'm alone, wishing to hear her respond just once."

When asked about his mother, he described her as the best mom, saying, "She was everything to me and treated her children exceptionally well."

Kim Soo-mi, known as the 'Nation's Mother' (국민 엄마) in South Korea, passed away unexpectedly in October of last year at the age of 75. She had expressed a desire to live until 150, leaving behind a legacy that touched the hearts of many.
