Son Heung-min Declares Himself a Legend After Europa League Win

On May 22, 2025, Son Heung-min (손흥민), the captain of Tottenham Hotspur, expressed his joy after winning the UEFA Europa League (UEL) final, stating he will now refer to himself as a 'legend.' This marks Son's first professional title since his debut with Hamburg in 2010.

Tottenham secured the championship by defeating Manchester United (맨체스터 유나이티드) 1-0 at the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, during the 2024-2025 season final.

In a post-match interview, Son couldn't hide his excitement, saying, "Call me a legend. What’s stopping you?" Previously, he had been hesitant to label himself as such in various interviews.

Reflecting on the achievement, he remarked, "I accomplished something that no one has done in 17 years alongside incredible players. This victory marks Tottenham's first title in 17 years since winning the League Cup in the 2007-2008 season.
