Son Heung-min Aims for Glory in UEFA Europa League Final

Son Heung-min (손흥민), the 32-year-old forward for Tottenham Hotspur, has expressed his determination to break the club's trophy drought ahead of the UEFA Europa League (UEL) final. In a press conference on May 21, he reflected on his decade-long tenure at Tottenham, stating, "I have played for Tottenham for 10 years, and we have never won a trophy. Winning the Europa League would be a historic moment for us."
Son acknowledged the team's current struggles, saying, "The situation we are in is unacceptable. We have had the worst season in the league, but winning the Europa League can change everything." Tottenham currently sits in 17th place in the league with a record of 11 wins, 5 draws, and 21 losses, totaling 38 points.
He emphasized the importance of winning, noting, "In the past few seasons, we have achieved great results, but this season we have missed something. If we lift the trophy tomorrow, it can change our mentality and rewrite history. It will also allow us to continue competing for the next trophy."
Under Son's leadership, Tottenham will face Manchester United in the 2024-2025 UEL final at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, on May 22 at 4 AM. Despite never having won a title since his professional debut with Hamburg in 2010, Son remains focused on training and maintaining his composure, even after a recent incident involving threats related to his personal life.
As the captain, Son is determined to lead his team to victory and end the long wait for silverware.
