Son Heung-min Addresses Saudi Arabia Transfer Rumors

Son Heung-min (손흥민), the captain of the South Korean national football team and Tottenham Hotspur player, spoke about the recent speculation regarding a potential transfer to Saudi Arabia. After a match against Kuwait on June 10 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, he stated, "Since I have one year left on my contract with Tottenham, I think it's better to wait rather than say anything right now."
In the mixed zone following the game, Son expressed curiosity about the situation, saying, "Both the reporters and fans, as well as myself, are quite curious about what will happen next. I believe it’s best to observe the current developments rather than think too much about the future."
He emphasized his commitment to giving his best regardless of where he plays, stating, "No matter where I am, I have always been a player who gives my all and works hard. I will continue to prepare diligently, regardless of my situation."
Recently, foreign sports media have reported ongoing rumors about Son's potential move to the Saudi Pro League, especially as his contract with Tottenham is set to expire next summer. The league is reportedly interested in acquiring Son to enhance its influence in the Asian market, leveraging his status as one of Asia's top stars. Analysts suggest that this summer could be an opportune time for Tottenham to transfer Son while still receiving a transfer fee.
The British tabloid The Sun reported on May 29 that Tottenham would consider a substantial offer for Son if it comes this summer. They noted that with Cristiano Ronaldo expected to leave Al Nassr, Son could be seen as a replacement, helping to attract East Asian fans to the league.
The Telegraph also highlighted on June 3 that Tottenham has a chance to secure a transfer fee for the 32-year-old star, who has long been a target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League. They noted that Son is remembered as one of Tottenham's great players and is likely to leave the team.
There are speculations that the Saudi league could offer Son a lucrative salary, with former national team player Lee Chun-soo suggesting on his YouTube channel that a contract worth around 30 to 35 billion KRW could be on the table, potentially totaling 60 to 70 billion KRW over two years.
