So Ji-sub Returns to Series with Netflix's 'Gwangjang' After Three Years

So Ji-sub is making his return to the small screen after a three-year hiatus since his role in MBC's Doctor Lawyer (닥터로이어) with the upcoming Netflix series Gwangjang (광장), set to premiere on June 6. The series has released its teaser poster and trailer, generating excitement among fans.

In Gwangjang, So Ji-sub portrays 'Gi-jun,' who returns after 11 years to seek revenge following the death of his brother, 'Gi-seok,' played by Lee Joon-hyuk. The show is based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name and promises a gritty noir action experience filled with intense violence.

The teaser poster features Gi-jun standing alone amidst a chaotic scene in a narrow alley, surrounded by fallen bodies. The blood splattered on the walls hints at the fierce battles he has faced, raising curiosity about his cold quest for vengeance tied to his brother's death. The tagline, "The rules are broken, and he has returned," suggests that Gi-jun's return will have significant repercussions in the world of Gwangjang.

The teaser trailer showcases Gi-jun's relentless pursuit of the dark secrets behind his brother's sudden death. After encountering Gi-seok's lifeless body, Gi-jun embarks on a mission to find his brother's killer. Armed with his signature baseball bat, he ruthlessly clears his path through the narrow alleyways, promising a variety of action sequences as he punishes anyone who stands in his way.

As Gi-jun faces adversaries without flinching, his cold demeanor and unwavering focus on revenge heighten the tension. The trailer concludes with a bloodied Gi-jun declaring, "I will end it all," leaving viewers eager to discover what awaits him at the end of his lonely journey.

Gwangjang is set to open a new world of harsh and intense noir action, premiering on Netflix on June 6 at 4 PM.
