Singer Won Mi-yeon Shares Emotional Gratitude for Friend Kang Su-ji

During the December 12 episode of KBS 2TV's 'Park Won-sook's Let's Live Together' Season 3, singer Won Mi-yeon became emotional as she expressed her gratitude towards her long-time friend, Kang Su-ji. The episode featured Won Mi-yeon alongside fellow guests Park Won-sook, Hye-eun, and Namgoong Ok-bun as they visited Seokpajeong in Jongno, Seoul.
While conversing with the group, Won Mi-yeon reflected on her 35-year friendship with Kang Su-ji, recalling a particularly challenging time when her father was in the intensive care unit for nine days. "At that time, Su-ji was about eight months pregnant, yet she visited the hospital every day," she shared.
She continued, "Her belly was as big as Namsan, and she brought various foods with her, never missing a day." Won Mi-yeon noted that it is uncommon for pregnant women to attend funerals, yet Kang Su-ji was there for three consecutive days. "That is something I will never forget. Even though she is younger than me, I rely on her," she added.
The group also enjoyed a trip to the Heungseon Daewongun's villa, where they viewed Lee Jung-seob's letter paintings. Park Won-sook commented, "When a great person passes away, even a scrap of paper can become valuable and an artwork. You should also create something and hide it somewhere."
Park Won-sook remarked on how Hye-eun seemed surprised by her demeanor towards her, saying it was the first time she had seen her act so demurely. Won Mi-yeon explained that in the past, Hye-eun had a private room while they shared a room with several others. "When we greeted her, she would acknowledge us but rarely spoke. I had never seen her interact with someone older than her like that, so I was taken aback," she said.
Park Won-sook and Hye-eun first met in the 1977 drama 'Why Are You Like This?' where they played an aunt and niece. Hye-eun expressed her fondness for Park Won-sook, saying, "I liked my aunt (Park Won-sook) even back then. It felt like seeing a relative. She was someone who gave me strength to start over when I felt alone," adding, "So whatever she says, I obey."
