Singer Lee Roo Shares Update After Two Years of Reflection: 'Depression'

On November 25, singer 이루 took to his Instagram to share a candid update about his life, posting a photo along with the caption "Depression. 20241124." The image shows 이루 taking a selfie in what appears to be a café, wearing a hat and looking relaxed as he gazes at the camera.

This update comes after a tumultuous period for 이루, who faced legal troubles following a drunk driving incident in September 2022. After drinking at a restaurant in Hannam-dong, Seoul, he was caught driving under the influence. A female professional golfer, who was with him, initially claimed she would take responsibility for the driving, but the prosecution charged 이루 with aiding and abetting rather than conspiracy to evade justice.

In December of the same year, 이루 was involved in another drunk driving incident, resulting in a traffic accident near Dongho Bridge on the Gangbyeon Expressway. Although he and a male passenger sustained minor injuries, his blood alcohol level was found to be within the range that would lead to a license suspension (0.03% to 0.08%). Additionally, he was reported to have been driving at speeds exceeding 180 km/h, well above the 80 km/h limit.

As a result of these incidents, 이루 received a six-month prison sentence, which was suspended for one year, along with a fine of 100,000 KRW for speeding. Following the sentencing, he expressed remorse, stating, "I will reflect on my actions and strive to live my life without engaging in such behavior again. I am sorry."

After a period of self-reflection, 이루 returned to social media in June 2023, sharing a photo with his father, 태진아, and mother, 이옥형, to update fans on his well-being. He also made his comeback to the music industry by participating in the writing and composing of 태진아's new song, '서울간 내님.'
