Singer Kim Heung-guk Fined for Unlicensed Driving

Singer Kim Heung-guk (김흥국), aged 65, has recently come under scrutiny after it was revealed that he was fined for unlicensed driving last year. According to MBN, the Seoul Central District Court issued a summary order imposing a fine of 1 million won on Kim in August 2024 for driving without a license.

The incident occurred on April 29, 2024, when Kim was caught by police in Gangnam, Seoul, while illegally changing lanes. He was subsequently referred to the prosecution in May 2024. On May 22, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office formally charged him with a fine of 1 million won.

This is not the first legal issue for Kim; in April 2021, he was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Yongsan District, where he collided with a motorcycle while making an illegal left turn at a red light. The motorcycle rider sustained leg injuries. On November 4, 2021, Kim was sentenced to a fine of 7 million won for violating the law regarding specific crimes and for failing to take responsibility after the accident.

Additionally, Kim had his driver's license suspended in 2013 due to a DUI charge and was previously involved in a DUI incident in 1997, which also caused public controversy.
