Singer Jinseong Opens Up About His Battle with Blood Cancer on Animal is Wonderful

On January 27, during a special Lunar New Year episode of KBS 2TV's variety show Animal is Wonderful (동물은 훌륭하다), legendary trot singer Jinseong made a surprise appearance. Dressed in a vibrant hanbok, he greeted the audience and performed a live rendition of his hit song 'Andong Station' (안동역에서), earning enthusiastic applause from the MCs.

The episode featured a heartwarming segment showcasing Jinseong's winter trip with his 15-year-old dog, 'Bori.' After a walk, Jinseong was seen giving Bori a massage, which impressed dog trainer Ko Ji-an, who remarked, "That's a great massage for senior dogs." Defconn added, "They are the best partners," expressing admiration for their bond.

Jinseong also shared his gratitude towards Bori, who stood by him during his struggles with lymphoma and heart valve disease. He reflected, "During that tough time fighting cancer, Bori was always by my side. I learned about love through Bori," revealing his deep affection for his pet.

In a touching moment, Jinseong took a photo with Bori in their hanboks and performed a brief live version of another hit, 'Don't Tackle Me' (태클을 걸지마), wishing viewers a year free from tackles, both given and received.

The 'Animal Friends' segment introduced a pet owner celebrating the Year of the Snake in 2025, showcasing various snakes, including the endangered ball python and the hog-nosed snake. The owner shared that rescuing a lizard from bullies in middle school sparked their interest in reptiles. They humorously noted that their father, who dislikes snakes, is trying to come around.

The second 'Animal Friend' featured 'Ppukku,' a Pomeranian known for its adorable looks and short legs, which has become a beloved figure in Cheonan's Central Market. The grandfather of Ppukku surprised everyone by preparing food for the dog while taking it for a walk. Veterinarian Kim Myung-cheol commented, "It's unconditional love," while Jang Do-yeon noted, "You can see hearts in its expressions." The segment also revealed a cute story about Ppukku living in three different homes, with trainer Ko Ji-an explaining the importance of selecting a primary caregiver.
