Singer Hyun-hee Celebrates 50 Years with Special Performances in Daehakro

Celebrating her 50th anniversary in the music industry, singer 혜은이 (Hyun-hee) will perform at the Hanseong Art Hall in Daehakro, Seoul, from July 19 to August 17. Known for her clear and captivating voice, Hyun-hee reflects on her journey, stating, "Life and music become easier when you let go."

Her debut song, '당신은 모르실 거야' (You Won't Know), written by renowned composer 길옥윤 (Gil Ok-yun), showcases her unique vocal tone that brings a refreshing quality even to melancholic themes.

During her upcoming performances, she promises to deliver a lively set reminiscent of the disco craze of the 1980s, including her new song '물비늘' (Water Scales), which was released in April to commemorate her 50 years in music. Hyun-hee describes the song as one that made her heart race after decades, blending a cheerful waltz rhythm with poignant lyrics about the fragility of beauty.

Reflecting on her past, Hyun-hee shares that her early career was marked by struggles, including performing in U.S. military clubs to support her family. Despite the challenges, her talent shone through, making her a muse for many. She recalls how Gil Ok-yun once delayed his departure to Japan to write a song for her after hearing her voice.

Looking ahead, Hyun-hee plans to release a new album by the end of the year, her first in six years, and has recently launched a YouTube channel to connect with fans. She expresses a newfound sense of fulfillment in her musical journey, stating, "Now, I feel like music is my true calling. The support from my fans has helped me endure the tough times, and I want to repay that love with my music."
