Singer Go Jung-woo Shares Heartfelt Story on 'Oh Eun-young Stay'

On July 29, 2025, singer Go Jung-woo (고정우) moved audiences across the nation with his poignant life story. He took to his social media to express his feelings after participating in the show 'Oh Eun-young Stay' (오은영 스테이), stating, "Hello, this is Go Jung-woo. Did you enjoy 'Oh Eun-young Stay'? I was able to share the untold stories that have been deep in my heart through this broadcast."
He continued, "As always, I will dedicate myself to my work with the same passion I had at the beginning. No matter how difficult the path may be, I will live diligently because I have supporters and loved ones cheering for me. Thank you so much for your comfort and support."
During the episode of MBN's 'Oh Eun-young Stay', Go Jung-woo reflected on his challenging childhood, raised by his mother and grandmother after losing his father at a young age. He shared how he became the head of the family at just nine years old after his grandmother suffered a traffic accident. He overcame a fear of water and became the youngest performer in Haenam, despite battling depression that led him to contemplate extreme measures. However, he found the strength to persevere after reconnecting with the memory of his grandmother.
In an emotional moment, he recounted, "My grandmother wanted to see me graduate from high school, but she passed away suddenly from a cold before she could. I was with her during her last moments, and after I said my final goodbye, she took her last breath just three seconds later. After her funeral, I received a bouquet she had ordered for my graduation. I took that bouquet to the columbarium to pay my respects, and when I returned home, I was overwhelmed by the absence of her presence, which triggered my depression again."
After relentless efforts to achieve his dream of becoming a trot singer, Go Jung-woo finally found success in Seoul. Dr. Oh Eun-young (오은영) comforted him, saying, "The weight of responsibility Go Jung-woo carried during his childhood was incredibly heavy." Fellow guest Ko So-young (고소영) added, "It seems he didn't have time to take care of himself. He needs to express his struggles and take time to heal. I hope he can acknowledge and praise himself for overcoming such tough times."
