Signal Season 2 Begins Filming, Excitement Builds Among Fans

The highly anticipated second season of Signal (시그널), titled Second Signal (두번째 시그널), has officially commenced filming, much to the delight of fans. The original series, which aired in 2016, captivated audiences with its unique blend of time travel and crime investigation, as detectives from the present and past collaborated to solve cold cases.
Since the conclusion of the first season, discussions about a sequel have been ongoing, with writer Kim Eun-hee (김은희) hinting at the project since last year. Lead actor Lee Je-hoon (이제훈) also expressed his excitement after receiving the early script, stating, "I can only think 'this is insane' while reading it. I believe it will showcase something beyond what people have imagined. Kim Eun-hee has outdone herself again."
On February 10, during the CJ ENM Content Talk 2025 event held at the CJ ENM Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, it was officially announced that tvN is preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the network in 2026 with the return of the beloved drama Signal as Second Signal. Photos of coffee trucks arriving at the filming location have already circulated on online communities, further fueling excitement. A source from the production confirmed to OSEN that filming for Signal Season 2 began on February 15, heightening anticipation among fans.
In a recent appearance on the show Morning Eating (아침먹고 가2), director Jang Hang-jun (장항준), who is also Kim Eun-hee's husband, shared insights about the ongoing writing process for Signal 2. He cautiously mentioned, "I’ve heard some casting news, but I can’t say too much. However, I can confirm that the original cast will be returning." This means fans can expect to see familiar faces like Kim Hye-soo (김혜수), Jo Jin-woong (조진웅), and Lee Je-hoon back in action. Additionally, actor Ahn Jae-hong (안재홍) is reportedly in discussions to join the cast.
With the first filming successfully completed, fans are eagerly awaiting the new season, hoping for a tightly woven and high-quality narrative. The performances of Jo Jin-woong, Kim Hye-soo, and Lee Je-hoon in the first season are still regarded as legendary, and the anticipation for Signal 2 continues to grow.
