Signal Season 2 Begins Filming After a Decade

The highly anticipated second season of Signal (시그널), titled Second Signal (두번째 시그널), has officially started filming after a ten-year hiatus. Recent photos from the set, featuring a coffee truck with banners reading "Second Signal! Our time continues!" and "Supporting Director Ahn Tae-jin and all the staff and cast of Second Signal!" have surfaced online, generating excitement among fans.

A representative from the drama confirmed to OSEN that filming for Signal Season 2 commenced on February 15, heightening expectations. This has led to a resurgence of interest in past interviews with lead actor Lee Je-hoon (이제훈), who expressed his enthusiasm for the script last year. He remarked, "While reading the script, I could only think, 'This is insane.' I’ve only seen the early drafts, but I wondered how someone could write like this. It’s incredible!" He hinted that the series would exceed viewers' expectations.

Lee Je-hoon also shared his anticipation for the return of co-stars Jo Jin-woong (조진웅) and Kim Hye-soo (김혜수), stating, "I believe writer Kim Eun-hee (김은희) will craft even more episodes. I think it’s fate that we’ve waited this long for this reunion."

While he refrained from discussing other senior actors, he expressed hope that they would join the project, saying, "I hope they will participate. I can’t imagine they would write this without me. I’m eagerly waiting for the script. They said they would send it soon, and I want to start filming quickly."

The original Signal, which aired in 2016, captivated audiences with its unique blend of time travel and mystery, as detectives from the present and past connected through desperate radio transmissions to solve cold cases. The show became a cultural phenomenon, praised for its compelling storytelling.

During the CJ ENM Content Talk 2025 event held on February 10, it was announced that tvN is preparing a special return of the beloved drama as it approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026.
