Signal Returns with a New Season After 8 Years

tvN has officially announced that the beloved drama Signal (시그널) will be returning for a new season titled Second Signal (두 번째 시그널) after an eight-year hiatus. The production is set to begin in earnest, aiming for a broadcast in the first half of 2026.

Originally aired in 2016, Signal captivated audiences with its gripping narrative about detectives solving cold cases through a mysterious walkie-talkie that connects the past and present. The series is renowned for its intense storytelling and memorable quotes, such as "The past can be changed. Don't give up." The finale achieved an impressive average viewership rating of 13.4%, peaking at 15% according to Nielsen Korea.

In the upcoming Second Signal, the original cast members Kim Hye-soo (차수현), Jo Jin-woong (이재한), and Lee Je-hoon (박해영) will reprise their roles. The script will once again be penned by Kim Eun-hee, who wrote the first season, while director Ahn Tae-jin, known for the film Owl (올빼미), joins the team to enhance the quality of this time-slip detective drama.

Fans are particularly eager to see how the fate of detective Lee Jae-han, who was hinted to be alive after disappearing 15 years ago, will unfold in this new season. The production team expressed their commitment to delivering a deeper and more immersive experience in Second Signal, thanking viewers for their overwhelming support for the first season and encouraging anticipation for the upcoming series.
