Given the limited time frame for the investigation, they opted to prioritize securing Yoon's testimony over engaging in procedural disputes.

The team quickly wrapped up the questioning on the obstruction of arrest allegations and then delved into broader inquiries, including the deletion of server data from a secret phone, the processes surrounding the declaration of martial law, and the drone infiltration allegations. Yoon reportedly denied all charges during his direct testimony and did not exercise his right to remain silent during the questioning.

Instead of taking a break with special prosecutor officials, Yoon went directly to the interrogation room, where questioning began at 9:04 AM. A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of assault, threats, and abuse against his girlfriend, who is five years younger. The Cheongju District Court ruled on July 6, 2025, that the defendant, referred to as A, severely violated the dignity and value of his partner, identified as B, during their relationship. The court noted that the psychological trauma inflicted on B is immeasurable.

A began dating B, a 21-year-old junior from the same university, in July 2022. He coerced her into creating a list of 24 rules for their relationship, which included demands such as 'know your place,' 'no socializing,' and 'do not mumble.' A threatened to expose B's private conversations if she did not comply with his demands.

When B failed to follow his orders, A resorted to physical violence and verbal abuse. On December 20 of the previous year, he assaulted her in his car for not arriving on time, resulting in a rib fracture that required five weeks of treatment. In total, he assaulted her 12 times.

Additionally, A forced B to sign a waiver relinquishing her bodily autonomy and demanded that she send him sexual videos. He also isolated her from friends, monitoring her whereabouts for 10 to 30 minutes at a time and insisting she keep video calls on while at home.

Throughout their relationship, A made B complete his academic assignments, and when he was dissatisfied with her work, he would physically abuse her. The court concluded that A's actions constituted gaslighting, manipulating B psychologically to commit these crimes.

The South Korean government is currently evaluating whether to revert the North Korean human rights report, which has been publicly released over the past two years, back to a non-public status. According to a report by Yonhap News on July 6, a representative from the Ministry of Unification stated that a decision regarding the public release of this year's North Korean human rights report has not yet been made. It is anticipated that the new Minister of Unification under the Lee Jae-myung administration will make a definitive decision on this matter.

The North Korean human rights report has been published annually since 2018, following the enactment of the North Korean Human Rights Act in 2016. While the previous Moon Jae-in administration did not make these reports publicly available, the Yoon Suk-yeol administration first released the report in 2023, aiming to raise awareness of the human rights situation in North Korea, including an English version. The reports were made public at the end of March 2023 and June 2022, but the current government is now considering a return to non-disclosure.

Given the policy direction of the Lee Jae-myung administration, there are concerns that the North Korean human rights report may once again become non-public.
