Shin Hyun-joon Breaks Down in Tears During Tribute to Late Kim Soo-mi

On February 1, during the 332nd episode of MBC's variety show, 'Point of Omniscient Interference' (전지적 참견 시점), actor Shin Hyun-joon was visibly emotional as he watched a tribute video for the late Kim Soo-mi.

Shin attended a press conference for his upcoming film 'Ghost Police' (귀신 경찰) and reflected on a poster featuring him and Kim Soo-mi, stating, "If Junho wasn't there at that time, it would have been a disaster." He shared a touching memory of his mother, revealing that she once told him that filming 'Barefoot Ki-bong' (맨발의 기봉이) was the happiest time of her life. She encouraged him to create warm films without sensationalism, which he believes embodies 'Ghost Police.'

As he reminisced, he expressed his sorrow, saying, "I filmed everything she wanted, but she is not here now." He recalled a moment when he suggested to his mother that they recreate a poster similar to 'Ki-bong,' where he would hold her, only to find the words, 'Mom, may you live long with Ki-bong,' written on it. This realization brought him to tears once again.

When the tribute video for Kim Soo-mi played before the film screening, Shin couldn't hold back his tears. His daughter, Min-seo, comforted him by saying, "Dad, don’t cry," which added to the emotional atmosphere of the event.
