Shin Chae-kyung Takes on Young Role in 'Pagua' as 'Son-tong'

Actress Shin Chae-kyung, who made a striking impression with her film debut, is set to portray 'Son-tong', the childhood character of 'Jo-gak' (이혜영), in the upcoming action drama 'Pagua'. The film centers around a legendary killer, 'Jo-gak', who has spent over 40 years eliminating corrupt individuals, and his intense rivalry with a mysterious assassin known as 'Tu-woo'.
Shin Chae-kyung gained significant attention after winning the lead role in 'The Witch: Part 2. The Other One' with an impressive audition ratio of 1,408:1. As a rising icon, she will bring depth to the narrative of 'Jo-gak' by embodying the character 'Son-tong', who possesses innate killer instincts.
The character arc will showcase 'Son-tong's transformation from the innocent 'Seol-hwa' to a hardened killer after meeting her mentor, 'Ryu' (김무열). During her 'Seol-hwa' phase, which translates to 'flower blooming in the snow', she will display a delicate yet resilient spirit, while her evolution into 'Son-tong' will reveal a cold, calculating side. Director Min Kyu-dong noted that Shin Chae-kyung effectively encapsulates the many pivotal moments of 'Jo-gak's past, raising anticipation for her portrayal of both 'Seol-hwa' and 'Son-tong'.
With a stellar cast including Lee Hye-young and Shin Chae-kyung, 'Pagua' promises to deliver vibrant characters and an engaging storyline. The film, showcasing Shin Chae-kyung's bold challenge as a legendary killer, is set to hit theaters on April 30, 2025.
