SEVENTEEN Sets New Record for K-Pop Album Sales with 'HAPPY BURSTDAY'

On June 2, 2025, it was reported that SEVENTEEN (에스쿱스, 정한, 조슈아, 준, 호시, 원우, 우지, 디에잇, 민규, 도겸, 승관, 버논, 디노) has achieved a remarkable milestone with their fifth studio album, 'HAPPY BURSTDAY'. According to the album sales tracking site Hanteo Chart, the album sold a staggering 2,521,208 copies in its first week of release (from May 26 to June 1), securing the top spot on the weekly album chart. This figure marks the highest initial sales for any K-Pop album released this year.
On the day of their comeback, SEVENTEEN also became the first K-Pop act of the year to reach double million-seller status, further solidifying their status as one of the top groups in K-Pop. Even after the initial sales period, SEVENTEEN continues to see an increase in album sales, raising expectations for their future achievements.
'HAPPY BURSTDAY' is dominating both domestic and international album charts. The album quickly ascended to the top of Hanteo's daily album chart and the Worldwide iTunes Album chart upon release, and it maintained the number one position on Japan's Oricon Daily Album Ranking for five consecutive days (from May 27 to 31). In China, it topped the daily and weekly digital bestseller album categories on QQ Music and received a 'Diamond Album Certification' after surpassing 5 million yuan in sales.
The title track 'THUNDER' is also performing exceptionally well. It topped the Bugs daily chart for two consecutive days (May 30-31) and has remained a strong contender on Melon's 'Top 100', known for its stability in rankings. The positive reception of their 'THUNDER' performance on music shows is expected to further boost its streaming rankings.
SEVENTEEN's influence extends beyond album sales; they are also a formidable force in the global concert market. According to Billboard's recent semi-annual report, they achieved approximately $120.9 million in ticket sales from October 1 of last year to March 31 of this year, ranking third among all global artists and setting a record for K-Pop artists.
The group is actively participating in music shows and variety content. Their highly anticipated series 'Nana Minbak with SEVENTEEN', produced by Na Young-seok, premiered today (June 2). The main episodes will be released every Monday on tvN and Disney+, and will be available in 77 countries and regions through global platforms. A full version with longer episodes will be available on Weverse every Monday and Friday over six episodes. Additionally, Joshua will appear on the web variety show 'Naraesik' on June 4, while Seungkwan and Vernon will visit 'Halmyungsoo' on June 6, and Mingyu will join 'Hyeol's Club'.
