SEVENTEEN Approaches 10 Million Album Sales and 1.5 Million Concert Attendees in 2024

As of December 16, 2024, SEVENTEEN (에스쿱스, 정한, 조슈아, 준, 호시, 원우, 우지, 디에잇, 민규, 도겸, 승관, 버논, 디노) is experiencing a remarkable peak in their career, nearing 10 million album sales and attracting approximately 1.5 million concert attendees both online and offline. According to Circle Chart, the group's cumulative album sales from January to November reached 9,761,390 copies, putting them on the brink of achieving '10 Million Artist' status for the second consecutive year. With December's sales still pending, this milestone is well within reach.

This year, SEVENTEEN released several successful projects, including their best album '17 IS RIGHT HERE' in April, the special unit single 'THIS MAN' by 정한 and 원우 in June, and their 12th mini album 'SPILL THE FEELS' in October, each setting new records. '17 IS RIGHT HERE' achieved the highest first-week sales for a K-pop best album and became a triple million seller within ten days. The single 'THIS MAN' also broke the record for the highest first-week sales for a K-pop unit album, showcasing SEVENTEEN's formidable presence.

Their mini album 'SPILL THE FEELS' surpassed 3 million copies in first-week sales, making it the only K-pop album released this year to do so, with total sales nearing 4 million by November. Additionally, their fourth single 'Shohikigen (消費期限/소비기한)' quickly exceeded 500,000 copies in monthly shipments, earning a double platinum certification from the Japan Record Association.

SEVENTEEN's prowess as performers shone brightly this year. They kicked off their 'SEVENTEEN TOUR 'FOLLOW' TO ASIA' in January, followed by 'SEVENTEEN TOUR 'FOLLOW' AGAIN' from March to May, and held their 'SVT 8TH FAN MEETING' in July. Their 'SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR' is set to draw over 1.1 million offline attendees across 36 performances. When including online viewers from live streaming and live viewing, the total audience is expected to reach 1.5 million. The live viewing and online streaming of their Fukuoka PayPay Dome concert, concluding their Japan Dome Tour, is scheduled for December 21 and 22, which will likely increase the total audience count.

The group also took on new challenges this year, becoming the first K-pop artists to perform on the main stage at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival in June, receiving rave reviews from local media, including a perfect score from NME. In September, they headlined the main stage at Lollapalooza Berlin, leaving a strong impression on European fans.

2024 marked a year of expanded influence for SEVENTEEN in the global market. They won the 'Best Group' award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards and the 'Top K-pop Touring Artist' award at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, showcasing their elevated global status.

Continuing their collaboration with UNESCO, SEVENTEEN has made a significant impact on the international community. After being the first K-pop artists to speak at the UNESCO headquarters during the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum last year, they were appointed as UNESCO's first youth goodwill ambassadors in June, embarking on a new journey as representatives of youth worldwide. They also donated $1 million to UNESCO to launch global youth support programs.

As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, SEVENTEEN will continue their global activities. They are set to hold the 'SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR IN ASIA' in major stadiums across Asia in January and February, and in April, they will perform at Mexico's largest music festival, Tecate Pa’l Norte 2025, marking another first for K-pop artists.
