Seoul's Onnuri Church Experiences Disturbing Live Stream Incident

On June 18, 2025, during a live stream of a morning service on YouTube, Onnuri Church in Seoul, one of South Korea's prominent Protestant churches, faced an unexpected incident when a North Korean flag was displayed for approximately 20 seconds. The church suspects that this incident may have been the result of external hacking.
According to reports, around 5:50 AM, during Pastor Park Jong-gil's sermon, the North Korean flag appeared on the screen accompanied by background music. This unusual occurrence lasted for about 20 seconds before the broadcast returned to the normal worship scene. The church has since made the video private and is enhancing its security measures while investigating the details of the incident.
In a statement, the church indicated that internal checks suggest a higher likelihood of intentional manipulation through hacking or account intrusion rather than a malfunction of their equipment. They are currently collaborating with law enforcement and YouTube's security team to uncover the truth. Furthermore, the church plans to overhaul its security systems for all live broadcasts and establish a comprehensive preemptive response system in light of this incident.
