Seoul Police to Release Information on Cyber Sexual Exploitation Leader

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they will publicly disclose the personal information of a 33-year-old man, referred to as A, who is the leader of a cyber sexual exploitation group known as '자경단' (Self-Defense Group). This information will be available on their official website from 9 AM on February 8 until March 10. A is accused of violating the Youth Protection Act by exploiting and threatening over 230 victims, including 159 teenagers (57 males and 102 females). Among the teenage victims, 10 young women were reportedly subjected to brutal acts and filmed during assaults. This case is significantly larger than the infamous '박사방' (Nth Room) incident from 2019, which involved around 70 victims, including 16 minors. The police emphasized the severity of A's actions, stating that the brutality of this case surpasses that of the previous scandal. The decision to disclose A's identity follows a ruling from the Seoul Administrative Court, which denied his request to block the release of his information, allowing the police to proceed with the disclosure for 30 days.
