Seoul Journalist to Appear Before Police on February 12

Lee Myung-soo, a journalist from Seoul's Voice (서울의소리), is scheduled to appear before the police on February 12 as a suspect in a case involving the secret filming of Kim Geon-hee, the wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol. Lee is accused of releasing a video on September 13, 2023, showing Kim receiving a Dior bag valued at 3 million won from Pastor Choi Jae-young at the Kobana Contents office in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The journalist allegedly used a wristwatch camera to secretly record the exchange. Authorities are investigating whether Lee's actions of filming Kim without her consent and distributing the footage constitute stalking. This investigation was initiated after a conservative group filed a complaint against both Lee and Pastor Choi for violating anti-stalking laws in January of last year. Pastor Choi appeared before the police in July 2023, asserting that his meetings with Kim were arranged through KakaoTalk and did not amount to stalking.
