Seo Kang-joon to Make Variety Show Comeback Ahead of New Drama Release

As the release of his first drama post-military service approaches, actor Seo Kang-joon is set to appear on a variety show. Since his debut in 2013, Seo has become a prominent star in South Korea, featuring in popular dramas such as Cheese in the Trap (치즈인더트랩), Entourage (안투라지), Are You Human? (너도 인간이니?), The Third Charm (제3의 매력), WATCHER, I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day (날씨가 좋으면 찾아가겠어요), and Grid (그리드), as well as films like My Love, My Bride (나의 사랑 나의 신부), The Beauty Inside (뷰티 인사이드), I’m Sorry, Thank You (미안해 사랑해 고마워), and Happy New Year (해피 뉴 이어).

After fulfilling his military duty in 2023, Seo Kang-joon returned to the entertainment scene, choosing MBC's new drama Undercover High School (언더커버 하이스쿨) as his comeback project. At the 2024 MBC Acting Awards, he expressed his excitement about the script, noting its blend of comedy, action, human drama, and crime, which he found appealing. He stated, "Each MBC drama showcases unique charms and delivers a powerful conclusion, making it impossible not to choose this project."

Undercover High School follows a National Intelligence Service agent who goes undercover as a high school student to track down the missing gold bars of Emperor Gojong. Seo plays the role of an agent who, under special orders, must navigate school life while completing his mission, leading to unexpected and entertaining situations.

In addition to his drama, Seo Kang-joon is making a long-awaited return to variety shows, appearing on the web series Jin Han Hyung (짠한형), hosted by Shin Dong-yup. This show features candid conversations between the host, co-MC Jung Ho-cheol, and various guests, including notable figures like Lee Hyori, Ha Ji-won, Hwang Jung-min, and more, making it a trending program.

Seo's last variety show appearance was in May 2018 on Netflix's Busted! (범인은 바로 너!) Season 1. Fans are eager to see a different side of him as he shares drinks and engages in honest conversations, promising a refreshing take on his persona.

The new MBC drama Undercover High School is set to premiere on February 21, following Motel California (모텔 캘리포니아).
