Seo Hyun-jin Opens Up About Anxiety After 'Another Miss Oh' Success and Karaoke Bonding with Gong Yoo

On the November 20 episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (유퀴즈 온 더 블럭), actress Seo Hyun-jin shared her struggles as a performer. With 24 years in the industry, she reflected on her career and the challenges she has faced.

Seo Hyun-jin admitted, "I haven't participated in many variety shows. Except for one, I've done them all with Yoo Jae-suk. But I feel like I have no presence. I even wondered why I was invited today," as she greeted Yoo Jae-suk with a shy smile.

She reminisced about meeting Jo Se-ho at a fashion show, where Jo Se-ho playfully recalled her wearing a white dress. Seo Hyun-jin corrected him, saying, "It was navy blue," which brought laughter to the set.

In her upcoming Netflix drama 'Trunk' (트렁크), Seo Hyun-jin stars alongside Gong Yoo. She revealed that her friendship with Gong Yoo developed during the filming, stating, "Whenever we have a company dinner, we have to go to karaoke. There's a floral sofa there. We don't order anymore, but when we drink, we still want to grab the mic," which elicited more laughter.

However, Seo Hyun-jin also opened up about her difficult times. Despite being in the industry for 19 years, she experienced a long period of obscurity. She shared, "My parents waited for 9 to 10 years. They even said, 'Isn't there a reason why it's not working out?" which touched the audience.

Her breakthrough came in 2016 with 'Another Miss Oh' (또 오해영). When Yoo Jae-suk asked how it felt to suddenly receive love from the audience, she confessed, "I felt very anxious when 'Another Miss Oh' became a hit. I always worked hard, but I thought I could fail at any moment. It wasn't enjoyable at all," surprising everyone with her honesty.

Reflecting on her growth, Seo Hyun-jin noted, "During the filming of a medical drama, I would try on my clothes the night before and rehearse my lines. But I became so obsessed with practicing that I stopped doing it altogether. In 'Trunk,' I had a few NGs, but I felt more at ease knowing that the directors would cover for me if I fell short," she concluded.
