The 'KM Chart Awards' is returning for its second edition on July 11, 2025, in South Korea. Originally launched as the 'Universal Superstar Awards' on March 27, 2024, the event has now officially adopted the name 'KM Chart Awards' (2025 KMA).

Organized by KM Chart, a platform dedicated to K-music that tracks the achievements of artists across various genres through fair chart data and fan participation, the KM Chart Awards aims to celebrate the artists who have shone in the music industry over the past year, along with their dedicated fans.

The inaugural ceremony, held at Kyung Hee University's Peace Hall in Seoul, was a resounding success, hosted by Lee Chan-won and Kwon Eun-bi. It featured a star-studded lineup including Taeyong (NCT), Young-tak, Lucy, MeloMance, Chuu, PlayB, and Fifty Fifty, captivating global music fans with spectacular performances and enthusiastic fan support.

The Seoul Arts Center is set to host the '2025 Hope Concert - Walking Together' on May 18 to aid areas affected by the recent large-scale wildfires in Uljin, Ulsan. The concert will feature renowned artists including conductor Choi Soo-yeol, the Korea Chamber Orchestra, pianist Baek Hye-sun, violinist Esther Yoo, cellist Moon Tae-guk, soprano Park Mi-ja, tenor Lee Myung-hyun, and baritone Kang Hyung-kyu. The ongoing legal battle surrounding FIFTY FIFTY's hit song 'Cupid' is set to continue. On May 8, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 62, presided over by Judge Lee Hyun-seok, ruled against Attract, the agency representing FIFTY FIFTY, in a copyright confirmation lawsuit against The Givers, led by external music producer Ahn Seong-il.

Released in 2023, 'Cupid' became a massive success, reaching a peak position of 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and maintaining a presence on the chart for 25 weeks.

Attract claimed that Ahn Seong-il had paid approximately $9,000 (around 11.7 million KRW) to Swedish students for a buyout of the song, asserting that CEO Jeon Hong-jun had refunded the song fee but that The Givers failed to provide information regarding the copyright purchase. They also stated that the service contract with The Givers included copyright transfer responsibilities.

In contrast, The Givers argued that Attract's payment was for the rights of a record producer, known as 'neighboring rights,' rather than for copyright itself.

Ultimately, the court dismissed Attract's claims, stating, "The plaintiff's request is without merit and is therefore rejected. The contract does not explicitly state any copyright transfer responsibilities, and The Givers undertook the contract at their own risk based on the creator's judgment."

The Givers noted that the court recognized them as the parties to the copyright transfer agreement, affirming that all substantial actions, including contract signing, negotiations, and cost burdens, were conducted through them.

Attract has announced plans to appeal while conducting a legal review. Separately, Attract and The Givers are engaged in a civil and criminal lawsuit regarding allegations of tampering. FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Aran, and Shio Kina previously filed for a suspension of their exclusive contracts due to concerns over Attract's financial transparency, while Attract raised allegations against Ahn Seong-il regarding tampering. The court ruled in favor of Attract, leading to Kina withdrawing her lawsuit and returning to the agency.

Attract has since added four new members, restructuring FIFTY FIFTY into a five-member group and creating a new sensation with their latest release 'Pookie.' Wanting to wear her most expensive handbag for the occasion, she went to retrieve it from her closet, only to find it missing. "I looked for other items, and they were gone too. Investigations have revealed that Moon Jae-in's daughter, Moon Da-hye, was a member of both the Democratic Party and the Justice Party during her father's presidency. The National Police Agency's investigation uncovered that the head of the National Security Office advised her to resign from the Democratic Party after concerns arose about the potential negative impact on the president's administration due to her dual membership. 

According to the indictment submitted by the Ministry of Justice, the situation escalated when Moon Da-hye's membership in the Justice Party was widely reported in January 2018, raising suspicions about her dual affiliation. A prosecutor stated that evidence confirming her membership in the Democratic Party was obtained through seizures, noting that belonging to multiple parties is illegal, but they did not pursue charges due to the statute of limitations.

The investigation also indicated that Moon Jae-in assisted his son-in-law, Seo Mo, in securing various jobs as the couple faced financial difficulties. The indictment detailed that in February 2016, after Seo failed repeatedly in law school admissions and his marriage deteriorated, Moon Jae-in facilitated his employment at 'Tori Games' through a former administrative officer from his administration.

Despite a monthly salary of 2.6 million won, the couple struggled to meet their average monthly expenses of over 6 million won, relying on 4 million won in monthly support from Seo's mother. However, as her financial situation worsened, the support ceased, and by late January 2018, the couple's total savings dwindled to just 2 million won.

Subsequently, Moon Jae-in helped Seo secure a position at Thai low-cost airline Thai AirAsia, where he earned a total of 217 million won from August 2018 to April 2020. Prosecutors have classified this payment as a bribe to Moon Jae-in. The Presidential Security Service reported Seo's employment and the security plans for Moon Da-hye's family in Thailand to the former president, who approved them.

On April 24, the Jeonju District Prosecutor's Office indicted Moon Jae-in on bribery charges without detention, alongside former lawmaker Lee, who allegedly provided favors to the family. Moon Da-hye and Seo received deferred prosecution. In response, Moon Jae-in criticized the investigation as politically motivated, claiming it was designed to harass and humiliate him and his family. He has since filed complaints against the prosecutors involved for abuse of power and leaking information.
