Sa-gang Opens Up About Struggles After Losing Her Husband on Single's Inferno

In the latest episode of SBS Plus's Single's Inferno (솔로라서), Sa-gang shared her emotional journey following the loss of her husband. During the broadcast on December 17, she revealed that despite usually being a good sleeper, she has recently been suffering from insomnia. Seeking help, she visited a psychological counseling center, where she disclosed that she has been struggling to sleep for about ten months. When asked by the counselor if she could discuss the difficult times she faced, she chose to skip over those details.

Sa-gang, who married a company employee three years her senior in 2007 and has two daughters, faced the sudden death of her husband in January. After reviewing her assessment results, the counselor noted that Sa-gang is experiencing insomnia and poor sleep quality, with a particularly high 'repression index' of 91.6%, indicating she is suppressing negative emotions such as sadness, pain, and anger. Surprised by this revelation, Sa-gang admitted, "It's true that I'm struggling, but I thought I was coping well. I often cry when I'm alone at night."

The counselor also diagnosed her with 'burnout syndrome,' scoring 97.7%, which reflects a state of psychological and physical exhaustion due to excessive stress. This led to an emotional moment as Sa-gang saw her reflection on the monitor, prompting tears. Her friend Chae-rim comforted her, saying, "Mom has to be strong because we only have her now; we need to be stronger since Dad is gone." Both Sa-gang and Hwang Jung-eum were visibly moved.

Chae-rim held Sa-gang's hand, expressing concern, "You can't be sick; we have to keep raising the kids, right?" Sa-gang responded, "I pray every night that I won't get sick."

After explaining the results, the counselor recommended light exercise and encouraged Sa-gang to take time for herself. Sa-gang reflected, "I have homework to do for myself after this counseling session. I plan to take time for myself and try things I enjoy."

Additionally, Sa-gang reminisced about retirement rumors from 2008, clarifying that they stemmed from a comment she made about moving abroad, which was misinterpreted by the media.
