Ryu Un and Geum Sae Rok to Star in New Thriller 'Flower of Death'

Actors Ryu Un (려운) and Geum Sae Rok (금새록) are set to collaborate in the upcoming drama 'Flower of Death' (죽음의 꽃). According to reports on June 26, 2025, the series is a crime thriller based on a novel of the same name. It revolves around a serial killer who claims to possess the technology to cure all human diseases while committing murders under the guise of human experimentation. The narrative intensifies as a lawyer, who must save the killer for the sake of his sick daughter, clashes with a prosecutor determined to bring him to justice.

In the drama, Ryu Un will portray a medical school dropout turned serial killer, while Geum Sae Rok takes on the role of the prosecutor who is resolute in seeking the death penalty for him. Ryu Un previously gained attention for his role as the justice-driven leader Park Hu Min in the Netflix series 'Weak Hero Class 2', where he showcased his fighting skills while only using them to protect his school and friends, creating a strong chemistry with co-star Park Ji Hoon.

Geum Sae Rok also made a mark in her last project, 'The Iron Family', where she played the spirited youngest daughter, Lee Da Rim. Her warm charm and nuanced performances have captivated audiences, and she is expected to showcase a new side of her acting in 'Flower of Death' as she ventures into the crime thriller genre.

The production of 'Flower of Death' is a collaboration between IOK Content Group, known for works like 'My Perfect Secretary' and 'Tale of Nokdu', and Content Z, which produced 'Pain' and the upcoming drama 'Twelve' starring Ma Dong Seok. The drama is currently in the final stages of casting and is set to begin filming next month once the cast and shooting arrangements are finalized.

Ryu Un made his debut in 2017 with 'Temperature of Love' and has since appeared in various dramas including 'Doctor Prisoner', '365: Repeat the Year', '18 Again', 'Oh! Samkwang Villa!', 'Those Who Read the Evil Mind', 'Flower Scholar's Love Story', 'Watermelon', 'Namib', 'History of a Loser', and 'Weak Hero Class 2'.

Geum Sae Rok debuted in 2011 through advertisements and gained recognition with the drama 'Shall We Live Together?'. She has since been praised for her consistent acting in various projects such as 'Hot Blooded Priest', 'Youth of May', and 'Understanding of Love'. She has also appeared in films like 'Drug King', 'The King's Letters', and 'Our Body', and is set to release the movie 'Breakfast Meeting for the Heartbroken' soon.
