Actor Ryu Seung-hyun has made headlines after proposing to his girlfriend, who is 18 years his junior. During the December 19 episode of MBN's Special Report (특종세상), Ryu, known for his roles in Netflix's The Glory (더 글로리) and as a specialist in villainous characters, shared details about his relationship.

While practicing his lines, Ryu answered a call with a playful tone, expressing his happiness by saying, "I feel happy just thinking about this person." His girlfriend recounted how they met by chance in a social gathering, noting that they weren't particularly close at the time. Ryu added, "It was a soccer gathering, and I had been admiring her beauty for about three years, but she always had a boyfriend during that time."

After learning that his girlfriend was single, Ryu decided to reach out, recalling, "I thought I should at least try to say something, so I sent a message asking, 'Hi, do you know who I am?'" The production team humorously remarked on his boldness. His girlfriend mentioned that the effort he put into his message made a positive impression on her.

However, their age difference posed challenges. She revealed that her family, especially her father, was strongly opposed to their relationship, fearing that their different backgrounds and professions might lead to difficulties. Ryu also noted that friends advised him to reconsider the relationship, and at one point, he felt he had made a mistake by pursuing it.

Despite these challenges, Ryu's girlfriend reached out to him, leading to their reconciliation. Towards the end of the broadcast, Ryu was seen having a heartfelt conversation with his future father-in-law and proposing to his girlfriend, capturing the audience's attention.
