On December 19, during the broadcast of MBN's 특종세상 (Exclusive World), actor Ryu Seong-hyun revealed his relationship with a girlfriend who is 18 years his junior. The actor, known for his roles as a villain, surprised viewers with a playful tone when he answered a call during acting practice, expressing, "I feel happy just thinking about her."

Ryu's girlfriend shared how they met, stating, "We happened to be in the same space. We weren't that close at the gathering." Ryu added, "It was a soccer gathering. I admired her beauty for about three years, but she always had a boyfriend during that time."

Eventually, Ryu learned that his girlfriend was single and decided to reach out. He recalled, "I thought I should at least try to say something, so I sent a message asking, 'Hi, do you know who I am?'" His girlfriend noted that the effort he put into the message was evident, which sparked her interest.

However, their significant age difference led to strong opposition from their families. She explained, "My family was quite against it. My dad was particularly worried, saying he would disown me if it came to that. He was concerned about our different professions and environments, wondering if we could blend well together."

Ryu also mentioned that friends advised him to end the relationship, and his girlfriend questioned whether he could date someone 18 years younger. He reflected, "I think I made a big mistake there. I felt my desire was too strong, which led to a moment of breakup."
