Rock Band FIRR Releases Debut Single 'High'n'Low'

On July 15, the rock band FIRR (피어) released their first single titled 'High'n'Low'. The group features talented musicians, including vocalist Son Jin-wook (손진욱), known for his high-pitched vocals from the show 'Tomorrow's National Singer' (내일은 국민가수). FIRR's name is an acronym derived from 'Face is Red, Right?', symbolizing their aim to convey genuine emotions and vibrant stories through energetic music.
Son Jin-wook expressed that the band is formed with the belief that they can become a great band because of the wonderful connections they share. He emphasized their goal to create music that resonates deeply with everyone living in this era, expanding their unique musical narrative.
The lineup of FIRR is impressive, featuring drummer Jung Kwang-hyun (정광현) from the band Purple Rain (퍼플레인), guitarist Jung Ji-won (정지원) from Dequila Old Fashioned (데킬라 올드 패션드), bassist Park Seong-kyung (박성경) from Wouter (와우터), and keyboardist Jeon Hye-rim (전혜림) from Grida (그리다). Together, they aspire to carve out a distinctive path in the hard rock genre.
The single 'High'n'Low' tells a story of vulnerability, encapsulated in the line, "Even if I stand at the highest point in the world, I feel unstable with just you." The song begins with powerful drums and bass, building tension with sharp guitar riffs and keyboard melodies, enhanced by orchestral strings that enrich the sound. The fearless vocals traverse a wide range, adding to the song's overall quality.
Both Son Jin-wook and Jung Kwang-hyun contributed to the lyrics and composition, with all band members participating in the arrangement. Son Jin-wook described the song as more than just a simple love story; it explores the highs and lows of emotions that can be difficult to understand, portraying the beauty of contradictions.
FIRR is set to perform at the Daegu Ayang Rock Festival on August 23 and will hold their first planned concert the following day, featuring performances from bands like Mongni (몽니), Broken Valentine (브로큰발렌타인), and The Vain (더베인) to celebrate their debut.
