Rise, SEVENTEEN, and IU Compete for Top Spot on MBC's Show! Music Core

On June 7, MBC's Show! Music Core featured three contenders for the top spot: Rise's 'Fly Up', SEVENTEEN's 'THUNDER', and IU's 'Never Ending Story'.

Rise has made waves with their debut studio album 'ODYSSEY', released on May 19, achieving 'three consecutive million-seller' status. The album has reached impressive rankings, including 3rd on Melon's TOP100, 1st on HOT100, and 1st on Bugs' real-time chart. Additionally, it topped the Apple Music Today's TOP100 chart in South Korea and secured the number one spot on QQ Music's digital album sales chart in China, earning 'Platinum' certification. The title track 'Fly Up' showcases vibrant choreography reminiscent of a 'youth musical', highlighting the members' energetic performances.

SEVENTEEN continues their success with their fifth studio album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY', which sold 2,521,208 copies in its first week (from May 26 to June 1), marking the highest first-week sales for a K-pop album released this year. The title track 'THUNDER' dominated the Bugs daily chart for three consecutive days (from May 30 to June 1) and has maintained a strong position on Melon's TOP100.

IU's latest release, '꽃갈피 셋' (Kkotgalpi Set), dropped on May 27 at 6 PM and is the third album in her remake series, reinterpreting classic songs with her emotional and lyrical vocals. This marks her return after approximately eight years since '꽃갈피 둘' (Kkotgalpi Two) and about 15 months since her mini-album 'The Winning' released in February 2024. Within just one hour of its release, the album swept major music charts, with all tracks charting on platforms like Melon, Genie, and Bugs. The title track 'Never Ending Story' reached number one on Melon, Bugs, and Genie.

The broadcast also featured performances from artists including Kim Jang-hoon, N.Flying, ENHYPEN, 20th Century Boys, Jung Hong-il, UAU, ONEUS, KickFlip, HITGS, USPEER, E'LAST, UDTT, SMORZ, and KIIRAS.
