Remembering Jeon Mi-sun: Six Years Since Her Passing

This year marks the sixth anniversary of the late actress Jeon Mi-sun's passing. She was found dead in a hotel room in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, on June 29, 2019, at the age of 50. At the time, Jeon was in Jeonju for a performance of the play 'My Mother and 2 Nights 3 Days.' Emergency services and police arrived at the scene following a report from her manager, but she had already passed away.
Her agency expressed deep sorrow, stating, "She had been receiving treatment for depression, and it is with great sadness that we share this news. Jeon Mi-sun, who always seemed to be by our side in her beautiful form, has become a star in the night sky."
The news of her death sent shockwaves beyond the entertainment industry, especially since she had been actively participating in events just days before her passing, including attending a press conference for the film 'The King's Letters.' At the time, she was also set to appear in the KBS2 drama 'Joseon Exorcist.'
Fellow actors, including Song Kang-ho, Yoon Se-ah, Yeom Jung-ah, Kim Soo-mi, Park So-dam, Kim So-hyun, Yoon Si-yoon, and Sung Hoon, paid their respects at her funeral. Notable figures like director Bong Joon-ho and celebrities such as Kwon Hae-sung and Ha Ri-su also commemorated her on social media.
Jeon Mi-sun's charitable work has also been highlighted. She consistently supported and donated to the international relief and development NGO Plan Korea, and the organization expressed their condolences, stating, "We will remember the warm hands you extended to others."
Debuting in 1986 with MBC's 'Bestseller Theater - Is Santa Claus Real?', Jeon Mi-sun captivated audiences with her exceptional acting skills in numerous dramas and films, including 'Land,' 'Baker King Kim Tak-goo,' 'Six Flying Dragons,' 'Moonlight Drawn by Clouds,' 'Memories of Murder,' and 'Mother.' Her legacy continues to resonate deeply in the hearts of many even six years after her departure.
