Remembering Actress Zhou Haimei on the First Anniversary of Her Passing

Today marks the first anniversary of the passing of Hong Kong actress 주해미 (Zhou Haimei), who died from a sudden heart attack at the age of 57. Her agency announced her death on December 11, 2023, stating that she left us without receiving treatment. They expressed their hopes for her to be free from pain in heaven and to reunite in the next life.
On the day before her death, rumors circulated about her condition, with some media outlets in Hong Kong and China reporting her demise. However, certain figures in the Chinese entertainment industry claimed she was unconscious but not deceased, urging people not to spread false information. Unfortunately, the rumors were confirmed, leading to widespread sorrow.
The exact cause of her death remained unclear until her sister, 저우펑 (Zhou Feng), released a statement revealing that CCTV footage and forensic examinations indicated she had suffered a sudden heart attack. She also requested that speculation about the cause of death be avoided.
Born in 1966, 주해미 (Zhou Haimei) made her entertainment debut in 1985 through the Miss Hong Kong pageant. She gained significant popularity in South Korea for her roles in Chinese dramas such as 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes' (의천도룡기) in 1994 and 'The Return of the Condor Heroes' (사조영웅전) in 2008. She also appeared in the hit Chinese drama 'The Empress of China' (무미랑전기) in 2015, which starred top actress 판빙빙 (Fan Bingbing), and in the 2018 sensation 'Ashes of Love' (향밀침침신여상).
