Red Velvet's Seulgi Donates 100 Million Won to Wildfire Victims

Seulgi, a member of the popular K-pop group Red Velvet (레드벨벳), has made a generous donation of 100 million won to support victims affected by recent wildfires. On March 27, the Korean Red Cross announced Seulgi's contribution aimed at assisting those impacted by the devastating fires.

Expressing her concern, Seulgi stated, "I felt deep sorrow for the many victims whose daily lives and livelihoods are threatened by this unexpected large wildfire. Although it is a small gesture, I hope it can help in some way."

The wildfires began on March 21 in the Sancheong area of Gyeongnam and quickly spread to regions including Gyeongbuk and Ulsan due to strong winds and dry conditions. According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as of 9 PM on March 26, 17,752 hectares across six regions had been affected, resulting in 2,869 displaced individuals and damage to 317 buildings, with the extent of the disaster continuing to grow.

Seulgi's timely donation is expected to not only aid in the recovery efforts but also to promote a sense of solidarity and the value of sharing within society during this crisis. A representative from the Korean Red Cross remarked, "Seulgi's donation goes beyond mere financial support; it is a valuable act of sharing public responsibility in times of disaster. The funds will be transparently allocated to assist the affected victims."
