Record Early Heat Wave Hits Busan as Crowds Flock to Beaches

On the night of July 5, Gwangalli Beach in Busan's Suyeong District was packed with people seeking relief from the sweltering heat. The temperature in Busan reached 27 degrees Celsius that evening. Since the night of July 1, the region has been experiencing a tropical night, marking the earliest occurrence of such weather since meteorological records began in 1914—111 years ago. This year's tropical nights have arrived 19 days earlier than last year. Meanwhile, Seoul, Gangneung in Gangwon Province, and Jeju have also been under tropical night conditions since the night of June 29. The Korea Meteorological Administration has warned that the heat wave and tropical nights are expected to intensify this week, urging residents to take care of their health.
