Reality Star Jeong-sook Faces Six Months in Prison for Assault Charges

Jeong-sook (정숙), a contestant from the 10th season of the ENA and SBS Plus reality show I Am Solo (나는 솔로), appeared in court on June 12, 2025, facing charges of assault and property damage related to a taxi fare dispute. The prosecution has requested a six-month prison sentence.
According to reports from Newsis, the Daegu District Court's Judge Park Kyung-mo presided over the case, where Jeong-sook was accused of hitting another man six times and damaging his phone during an altercation on October 3, 2024. The incident occurred when the man claimed he had hailed the taxi first. Additionally, Jeong-sook was charged with defamation after the victim alleged that she called him a 'punk' in front of bystanders.
During the police investigation, the victim expressed discomfort with Jeong-sook's appearance on the show, stating, 'I would prefer if she either apologized formally or did not appear on the broadcast.' In response, Jeong-sook claimed to have suffered financial losses of 80 million won due to canceled advertisements.
In court, she admitted to the assault but argued that the victim had made inappropriate sexual comments first. Regarding a potential settlement, she noted that one of the conditions was her withdrawal from the show, which prevented an agreement.
Based on the circumstances, the prosecution has sought a six-month prison term. In her final statement, Jeong-sook expressed remorse, saying, 'I apologize. While there were inappropriate comments from the victim, I feel it was too much and I am wronged.' The verdict is scheduled for June 24 at 2 PM.
In addition to the assault charges, Jeong-sook is also under investigation for fraud related to a luxury necklace sold at a charity auction during her birthday party in February, which was later revealed to be counterfeit. She maintains her innocence, stating that all donations were completed within the month, but authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
