Rapper Sik-K Faces 3.5 Years in Prison for Drug Charges

Rapper Sik-K (real name Kwon Min-sik, 31) has been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison after confessing to drug use. On March 20, during a hearing at the Seoul Western District Court presided over by Judge Ma Sung-young, prosecutors requested the sentence citing Sik-K's significant influence as a well-known rapper, particularly on youth. They emphasized that he bears a heavier moral responsibility and noted his previous drug offenses while on probation.
Sik-K expressed deep remorse, stating, 'I have never felt this ashamed. I am truly reflecting on my actions. If given the chance to make amends to my family and colleagues, I will live with regret moving forward.' His defense attorney urged the court to consider his voluntary confession to the police, which led to the investigation.
According to prosecutors, Sik-K is accused of using ketamine and ecstasy between October 1 and 9, 2023, and also faces charges for smoking marijuana on January 11 and possessing it on January 13 of the same year. He had previously confessed to a police officer near the Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office on January 19, 2023, leading to his investigation and subsequent indictment on June 17, 2023.
The final verdict for Sik-K is scheduled for May 1, 2025.
