Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival Returns with 'Inter Harmony' Theme

The 22nd Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival is set to take place from July 23 to August 2 at the Pyeongchang Alpensia Concert Hall and other venues. This year's theme, 'Inter Harmony,' signifies the sharing of harmony amidst a world filled with conflict and anger. Artistic director and cellist Yang Sung-won, a professor at Yonsei University, stated, 'While the world is rife with discord and rage, music begins with listening and harmony. We have selected pieces inspired by various countries, regions, and times.'

The festival will kick off on July 23 with a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2, 'Resurrection,' by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer. Following this, audiences can enjoy works by Chopin, Stravinsky, and Bartók. Additionally, Benjamin Britten's opera 'The Turn of the Screw' will be presented in concert format on July 30.
