Psy Addresses Villa Seizure Due to Illegal Modifications and Fines

On November 26, 2024, singer Psy (싸이) provided clarification regarding the unauthorized changes and expansions made to his residence, as well as outstanding fines.
His agency, P Nation, stated, "Psy has lived in a clean, newly built house since moving into The House in 2007, and he has not made any changes or expansions since then." However, they acknowledged that complaints were raised, leading to the discovery of illegal modifications made during the original construction.
Following this revelation, Psy and other residents of the villa coordinated with the Yongsan District Office to address the issues. They are currently preparing to rectify the illegal modifications by hiring a construction company together with the other homeowners.
The agency also clarified that the fines were due to a delay in receiving the notice, but all penalties have now been paid in full.
Previously, reports indicated that Psy and his wife purchased a luxury villa in UN Village, Hannam-dong, Seoul, in 2008, along with an adjacent office. They lived in the villa until 2020 before moving to Parc Hannam, subsequently renting out the property.
However, complaints were filed with the Yongsan District Office regarding unauthorized expansions, specifically concerning the connection between the duplex unit and the office through a shared staircase. An inspection confirmed the validity of these complaints, leading to a corrective action order issued to the couple.
Despite this, no action was taken, and after nearly a year of unpaid fines, the villa was seized in May. Psy has since paid the full amount of the fines last month, resulting in the release of the seizure.
Nonetheless, the illegal modifications have yet to be addressed. Psy's agency reiterated that they are in the process of hiring a construction company to rectify the illegal expansions in collaboration with the other residents of the villa.
In other news, Psy recently completed his 'Summer Swag' tour in August and participated in the tribute concert for Shin Hae-chul, 'Ma Wang 10th: Ghost Stage,' last month.
