Pro Golfer Ahn Sung-hyun Granted Bail After Fraud Conviction

Ahn Sung-hyun (안성현), a professional golfer and husband of actress Sung Yu-ri (성유리), has been granted bail by the Seoul High Court following his conviction for fraud related to cryptocurrency. The court accepted his bail request on June 11, 2025, after he was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in December 2023 for defrauding businessman Kang Jong-hyun (강종현) out of approximately 30 billion KRW and luxury items. The bail conditions include a deposit of 50 million KRW, restrictions on his residence, limitations on contact with other defendants and witnesses, and a travel ban without court permission. Ahn was accused of soliciting funds to list a specific cryptocurrency on the exchange Bithumb, and he allegedly misled Kang into giving him an additional 20 billion KRW by claiming that the former Bithumb Holdings CEO, Lee Sang-jun (이상준), was demanding the money urgently. Ahn debuted as a professional golfer in 2005 and served as a coach for the South Korean national golf team from 2014 to 2018. He married Sung Yu-ri in 2017, and they have twin daughters.
