Prime Minister Kim Min-seok Launches K-Talk Nation for Youth Engagement

On July 24, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok (김민석) initiated a new social dialogue platform called K-Talk Nation (K-토론나라) during the first session of 'Future Dialogue 1·2·3' held at Sang Sang Planet in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. This initiative aims to enhance public participation and understanding of key national policies.

Shortly after taking office, on July 8, Kim unveiled a 30-day work plan that included the establishment of K-Talk Nation, which will operate bi-weekly. The platform is designed to facilitate direct engagement between the government and citizens, laying the groundwork for social dialogue and agreements.

During the afternoon meeting, Kim gathered with 22 young individuals aged 10 to 30, representing various sectors such as young entrepreneurs, small business owners, workers, farmers, cultural figures, vocational high school students, university students, job seekers, and victims of rental fraud. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of involving youth in significant social policies, stating that their participation should extend beyond merely raising issues to actively influencing policy decisions.

Kim expressed his commitment to broadening the scope and methods of youth participation, promising to continue discussions on how to achieve this. After the meeting, he stated his intention to visit youth in their communities to listen to their concerns regarding employment and housing.

The Prime Minister's office announced that Kim will continue to engage with the public through K-Talk Nation, which will include dialogues, interviews with experts, and field visits. Additionally, they will launch a public idea contest titled 'Bouncing Ideas for Discussion in Korea' where citizens can propose topics that require dialogue. This contest will run from now until October 31, with 20 outstanding ideas selected for recognition in December during the K-Talk Nation event, where winners will receive awards and prizes.
