Presidential Candidates Await Election Results on June 3rd

On June 3, the day of the 21st presidential election in South Korea, candidates are waiting for the voting and counting results from their respective homes. Lee Jae-myung (이재명), the Democratic Party's candidate, is at his residence in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, after concluding his campaign with a rally in Seoul and a late-night YouTube live broadcast the previous day. Key figures from the Democratic Party, including the general and co-chairpersons of the election committee, will monitor the counting process from the National Assembly's office starting at 7:30 PM. Once the results begin to emerge, Lee is expected to join them in the counting room.

Kim Moon-soo (김문수), the candidate from the People Power Party, is also observing the results from his home in Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul. He held late-night street events in Seoul the night before and has no external schedule for the day. Key party officials, including emergency committee chair Kim Yong-tae (김용태), will be present in the counting room after 7:30 PM, and Kim Moon-soo will join them once the results are clearer.

Lee Jun-seok (이준석), the candidate from the Reform Party, is reported to be in Busan in the morning to encourage voter turnout before heading to his constituency in Dongtan. He is expected to arrive at the party's situation room in the National Assembly between 6 PM and 7 PM, before the polls close at 8 PM.

Kwon Young-guk (권영국), the candidate from the Democratic Labor Party, will attend the counting event at the party's headquarters starting at 7 PM. All four candidates completed their early voting on May 29.

The National Election Commission will begin counting votes after the polls close at 8 PM, with exit poll results from the three major broadcasting networks expected to be released shortly after at around 8:10 PM. Preliminary results are anticipated around midnight, with the official announcement of the elected candidate expected between 7 AM and 9 AM on June 4. The inauguration ceremony for the new president will take place at the National Assembly on June 4, with the new president starting their term immediately without a transition period.
