President Lee Jae-myung's Son Ties the Knot in a Grand Ceremony

On June 14, 2025, Dong-ho, the son of President Lee Jae-myung, celebrated his wedding in a private ceremony held in Seoul. This marks the first marriage of a sitting president's child in 35 years, since the wedding of former President Roh Tae-woo's son, Roh Jae-hun, in 1990.

The event was attended by hundreds, including President Lee and his wife, family members, friends, and notable figures from the political sphere. Among the guests were President Lee's colleagues from his judicial training, as well as celebrities like singer Lee Jeong-seok and actor Lee Gi-young.

Security personnel from the Presidential Security Service checked invitations and identities at the entrance, applying stickers to guests' phones to prevent photography. The President and First Lady greeted attendees as they arrived.

The ceremony was hosted by actor Ahn Jae-mo, with performances including two songs by former idol singer Lee Chang-seob and other vocalists singing pieces from the musical 'The Phantom of the Opera,' such as 'Think of Me.' The menu featured a course meal that included steak, lobster, abalone, and traditional banquet noodles.

President Lee offered heartfelt advice to the newlyweds, emphasizing the importance of patience and mutual support as they adapt to married life. He also shared insights on resolving conflicts, reminding them to acknowledge differing memories during disagreements to prevent escalation. Attendees noted that the President became emotional during his speech.

The wedding saw a significant turnout from the ruling Democratic Party, with all members invited. Representative Park Hong-keun shared on Facebook that the moment the couple greeted their parents was filled with tears of joy and mutual support, reflecting on their past struggles. Former Representative Park Kyung-mi also commented on the touching moments shared between the President and his son-in-law.

Additionally, President Lee invited friends from his youth who worked with him at the Orient Watch Factory. Democratic Party member Jeong Cheong-rae posted photos on Facebook of these friends meeting outside the wedding venue.
