President Lee Jae-myung's Approval Rating Hits 64% in Recent Poll

A recent survey conducted by Gallup Korea from July 15 to 17 revealed that President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) has an approval rating of 64%. The poll, which included 1,000 adults aged 18 and older, found that 64% of respondents believe he is performing well in his presidential duties, while 23% disagreed, and 12% withheld their opinions.
The positive assessment of President Lee was particularly strong among supporters of the Democratic Party (민주당), with 90% of progressive respondents and 83% of those in their 40s expressing approval. Among centrist voters, 68% rated his performance positively. Gallup noted that this trend has been consistent over the past four weeks.
In terms of party support, the Democratic Party leads with 46%, followed by the People Power Party (국민의힘) at 19%. Other parties included the Reform Party (개혁신당) at 4%, the Justice Party (조국혁신당) at 3%, and the Progressive Party (진보당) at 1%. Additionally, 26% of respondents identified as non-partisan (무당).
When asked who would be the best candidate for the upcoming Democratic Party leadership election, 30% favored Jeong Cheong-rae (정청래), while 29% preferred Park Chan-dae (박찬대). Among Democratic Party supporters, 47% chose Jeong Cheong-rae, and 34% selected Park Chan-dae.
The survey was conducted using randomly selected virtual phone numbers provided by the three major mobile carriers, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
