President Lee Jae-myung Urges Medical Students to Reflect on Their Social Responsibilities

On July 15, President Lee Jae-myung addressed medical students who recently announced their collective return to studies, urging them to consider their social responsibilities as future healthcare professionals. During a Cabinet meeting held at the presidential office in Yongsan, he expressed relief that the students have decided to resume their education. He emphasized the importance of understanding their role in safeguarding the health and lives of the public.
President Lee also called on relevant departments to closely address gaps in public healthcare, essential medical services, and emergency medical care.
Additionally, he marked the second anniversary of the Cheongju Osong underpass disaster, stating that it is the government's duty to protect the lives and safety of citizens. He lamented that many lives were lost due to the negligence of public officials. He urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the national tragedy, establish accountability, and ensure comprehensive support for the bereaved families.
The President condemned the rise of anti-social behaviors that insult the victims, expressing disbelief at the actions directed towards grieving families. He called for a strict response to such behaviors within the bounds of the law, adhering to a principle of zero tolerance.
