President Lee Jae-myung Plans First Press Conference Soon

On June 24, during a briefing at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, spokesperson 강유정 announced that President Lee Jae-myung is considering holding his first press conference shortly after his inauguration. When asked if the conference would take place around the 30-day mark of his presidency, 강 stated, "There will be a press conference, and the date will be announced once confirmed." She added that while they cannot specify the exact date, they are gathering public opinions to determine the timing. Historically, South Korean presidents have held their first press conferences around 100 days after taking office, but President Lee is reportedly looking to do so much sooner. A presidential office official mentioned that while the schedule is not finalized, it is expected to happen soon as part of efforts to enhance communication with the public. Additionally, from this day forward, the Q&A sessions during presidential briefings will be broadcast live, allowing for a more interactive experience. President Lee has instructed the installation of cameras to capture the faces of journalists asking questions, aiming to improve transparency and uphold the public's right to know. This live broadcast will be streamed through KTV, the government-operated channel.
