President Lee Jae-myung Orders Relocation of Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan by December

On June 24, President Lee Jae-myung directed the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to complete its relocation to Busan by the end of December. During a cabinet meeting held at the Yongsan Presidential Office, a key official revealed that President Lee instructed the ministry to expedite the move by opting for leased spaces instead of constructing new buildings. This relocation was part of President Lee's campaign promise during the recent presidential election. The ministry has reportedly informed the National Planning Committee of its plans to move to Busan by 2029. Additionally, President Lee appointed Jeon Jae-soo, a member of the Democratic Party and the only incumbent MP from Busan, as the new Minister of Oceans and Fisheries. Jeon previously served as the chair of the Arctic Route Development Committee and the Busan election campaign committee during the last election.
