President Lee Jae-myung Orders Emergency Economic Task Force Amid Resignations

On June 4, President Lee Jae-myung announced the formation of an Emergency Economic Task Force (TF) to address the ongoing economic crisis, marking his first executive order since taking office. During a briefing at the presidential office in Yongsan, spokesperson Kang Yu-jeong revealed that President Lee had a phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Lee Joo-ho, instructing him to gather department heads and staff by 7:30 PM the same day. Additionally, a meeting involving practical leaders from regional and local governments regarding safety issues related to disasters was scheduled for the morning of June 5.

Later that afternoon, President Lee visited the Joint Chiefs of Staff's Combat Control Room, where he received a report on military readiness from the acting Minister of National Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. President Lee emphasized his commitment to restoring the honor of the military as its commander-in-chief.

In a separate development, Deputy Prime Minister Lee Joo-ho informed President Lee during their call that all cabinet members had submitted their resignations. However, the presidential office confirmed that President Lee has accepted only the resignation of Minister of Justice Park Sung-je, rejecting the resignations of the other cabinet members.
