President Lee Jae-myung Emphasizes Role of Religious Leaders in Addressing Social Divisions

On July 9, President Lee Jae-myung met with religious leaders from seven major faiths during a luncheon at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul. During the gathering, he shook hands with Bishop Yoo Yong-hoon (이용훈), the chair of the Korean Catholic Bishops' Conference, who was seated in the front row. Next to him stood Monk Jinwoo (진우), the co-chair of the Korean Council of Religious Leaders and the head of the Jogye Order. President Lee expressed his concerns about the increasing divisions and conflicts within society, stating, "As I worried during the election process, our society has become excessively polarized and confrontational, which is truly concerning. I believe the role of our religious leaders is extremely important in this context."
