President Lee Jae-myung Emphasizes Peace and Security at Cabinet Meeting

On June 24, President Lee Jae-myung addressed the Cabinet meeting held at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul, stating, "Tomorrow marks the 75th anniversary of the Korean War on June 25." He noted that while many associate security with winning battles, the true essence of security lies in achieving victory without conflict, emphasizing that creating peace is a political responsibility.

President Lee expressed the need to evaluate whether adequate compensation and recognition are provided to those who have made significant sacrifices to protect South Korea. He remarked, "Peace is the economy, and peace is sustenance," highlighting the importance of establishing a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and strengthening national security. He hopes that this day will serve as a meaningful occasion to express gratitude to those who have made special sacrifices for the nation.

Additionally, President Lee mentioned that discussions on measures to stabilize living costs would take place, urging careful consideration to ensure vulnerable groups are not disproportionately affected.
